Food Safety During Pregnancy
There are certain foods that women should not eat during pregnancy because they may make you sick or be dangerous to your baby. These include:
- Raw fish and shellfish (ex: sushi, ray oysters and clams)
- Undercooked meat, poultry and seafood (including hot dogs, deli-meats)
- Unpasteurized milk, juice or cider
- Soft and semi-soft cheeses made with unpasteurized milk (ex: feta, brie, camembert)
- All foods made with raw or lightly cooked eggs (ex: homemade Caesar salad dressing)
- Raw sprouts (ex: alfalfa, bean)
