Sample Menu’s for Baby
Six Months to One Year
Health Canada recommends that babies be exclusively breastfed for their first six months of life. Babies should be introduced to solid food around six months, when baby shows signs of readiness. It is important to make an informed decision when deciding how to feed your baby. If you need more information about feeding your baby, please call 519-426-6170 ext. 3237.
Continue to respond to feeding cues from your baby and breastfeed on demand up to age 2 years and beyond.
- These menus are only a guide. Your baby may eat foods at different times.
- Every baby is different. Trust that your baby knows how much to eat.
After 6 months your baby can have water if he/she seems thirsty and does not want to breastfeed. Offer it in an open cup. Drinking from an open cup promotes mature drinking skills.
