SIMCOE, SEPTEMBER 30, 2011 – The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit’s highly successful Prenatal Fair will be returning to the Vittoria Community Centre on October 13th.

The free fair, which runs from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., will feature displays and demonstrations addressing virtually every aspect of pregnancy and parenting, says the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit.

“In the past, these events have proven to be very popular among those with a baby in their future as well as participating businesses and agencies,” said Angela Swick, Public Health Nurse with the Health Unit. “More than 200 residents attended the Prenatal Fair in Vittoria last year and we expect it to be just as popular this year.”

Local businesses and agencies will provide expecting mothers and their supporting friends and family members with information on a wide range of pregnancy and parenting products and services including photography, pharmaceuticals and educational tools.

Health Unit staff will also be on hand to offer information to attendees and answer any questions they may have on issues such as child nutrition, breastfeeding, parenting classes and speech and language issues.

“The Prenatal Fair is the ideal one-stop shopping location for those seeking products, services and advice on pregnancy and child rearing,” Swick said. “Our goal is to get information into the hands of future parents as early in pregnancy as possible.”

In addition to educational displays, the Health Unit is hosting a small café with free refreshments. There will also be a car-seat safety demonstration. Businesses and agencies are donating door prizes, and the grand prize is a high-quality car seat.
