As of today, all Ontarians 18+ are eligible to book an accelerated second dose appointment, as long as they received their first shot 28 days prior. To accommodate local demands, the Health Unit is adding more pop-up clinic dates as vaccine shipments are confirmed.

To date, the Health Unit has administered over 90,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Over 71% of the adult population in Haldimand and Norfolk has now received at least their first dose.

The supply of Moderna is now outpacing the supply of Pfizer in Haldimand and Norfolk and across Ontario. With the supply of Moderna increasing, the Health Unit will begin to provide Moderna at some clinics over the coming weeks.

These clinics will be posted on the HNHU Pop-Up Clinic Booking Page, not the Provincial booking tool, and will be named to indicate they are providing Moderna. No Pfizer will be available on site at clinics.

“Moderna is a safe and effective vaccine to start or complete your vaccine series and offers great protection against COVID-19 infection,” said Chief Sarah Page, Norfolk County Paramedic Chief and COVID-19 vaccine lead.

Dr. Kate Bishop-Williams, epidemiologist at the HNHU noted that “science demonstrates that mixing mRNA vaccines is safe and provides a good immune response. If you had a first dose of Pfizer 28 days ago, or a first dose of Astra Zeneca 56 days ago, a second dose of Moderna is a great way to complete your vaccination series.”

The first mass clinic providing the Moderna vaccine will be held on July 3, 2021 in Cayuga.

Residents are reminded that the best vaccine to get is the first one that’s available, and there are a number of options when it comes to booking first and second doses.

How to book:

• All eligible individuals may book appointments using the provincial booking tool or by calling the provincial call centre at 1-833-943-3900.
• Residents may also check the HNHU pop-up clinic booking pageat org/popup and book online for these appointments using the HNHU booking tool. Check back regularly, as pop-ups are always being added at various locations across the community.
• Youth 12-17 may also book online at an HNHU pop-up clinicadministering Pfizer. The Health Unit’s Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Alex Hukowich, is committed to administering second doses to youth as quickly as possible while there is supply of Pfizer available. Given the relatively low supply of Pfizer expected in the coming weeks, the HNHU is prioritizing local youth for first doses in an effort to increase vaccination coverage in the community.
• Several local pharmacies are offering Pfizer/Moderna vaccines. Residents can look up nearby participating pharmacies using the province’s lookup tool: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations.
• If no appointments are available, individuals can add their name to the first dose or second dose waitlist (for potential end-of-day appointments due to cancellations, no-shows, etc).
