Vaccine Eligibility

  • Individuals who are 18 years of age and older are now eligible for an additional booster (i.e. fourth dose). Booster doses for these groups are recommended at an interval of five months (140 days) after the previous dose but can be received at a minimum interval of three months (84 days).
  • Moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals aged 18+ who received a three-dose primary series are eligible for a second booster dose (i.e. fifth dose). Second booster doses for these groups are recommended at an interval of five months (140 days) after the previous dose but can be received at a minimum interval of three months (84 days).
  • 12 to 17-year-olds are eligible to receive a booster dose (i.e. third dose) six months (168 days) after their second dose.
  • If you have recently had COVID-19 you are still eligible for a first, second, or booster dose of the vaccine. Residents should wait until they are out of isolation and symptoms have resolved to receive their next dose. The National Advisory Committee on Immunizations (NACI) recommendation for the COVID-19 vaccine after COVID-19 infection is to wait up to three months after infection to receive the next dose.
  • Health Canada has authorized the use of a Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for individuals aged 6 months to 5 years old. This product will be made available to the Haldimand and Norfolk communities as more information about the product, such as product availability, is shared by Ontario’s Ministry of Health.
