Environment and Climate Change Canada has forecasted that hot and humid conditions are occurring and will continue until September 6, 2023.

Based on the information available, the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit has upgraded the Heat Warning to an Extended Heat Warning. The criteria for an Extended Heat Warning is daytime high temperatures reaching 31°C or greater and minimum overnight temperatures of 20°C or greater or humidex of 40 or greater, with hot and humid conditions lasting three or more consecutive days.  The Extended Heat Warning will be in effect until further notice.

Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults, infants and young children, those with certain medical conditions, people who work or exercise in the heat, the homeless and low-income earners. Warning signs of heat-related illness include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness, confusion, fainting, rapid breathing and heartbeat. If you or anyone else experience any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
