The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) wishes to announce a notable change in its leadership. Effective June 30, 2024, Dr. Malcolm Lock assumed the Medical Officer of Health role, succeeding Dr. Joyce Lock (no relation).

 

Dr. Malcolm Lock previously served as the HNHU Medical Officer of Health for 16 years, covering Brant County and Haldimand and Norfolk counties. Dr. Lock was born and raised in the UK and immigrated to Canada after graduation. He has extensive experience in general practice and completed his master’s in public health, with a focus on occupational health and community health.

  

The role of the Medical Officer of Health is legislated under the provincial Health Protection and Promotion Act. The Medical Officer of Health is responsible for providing clinical oversight to Health Unit staff and ensuring that public health programs and services are delivered in accordance with applicable legislation.
