Vaccine doses administered so far: 32,959

Number of people completely vaccinated: 2,349

Status updates

  • The Health Unit is currently vaccinating individuals 60 and above, as well as individuals with high-risk health conditions as per Phase 2 of the province’s rollout framework. These eligible groups are encouraged to use the online booking tool to set up an appointment.
  • Local pharmacies are administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to residents 40 and above. To find a local pharmacy and book an appointment, visit the Province’s online lookup tool.
  • If you have an at-risk condition and have not added your name to the waitlist for potential end-of-day appointments, we encourage you to add your name at www.hnhu.org/vaccinewaitlist.

Eligible at-risk conditions include: Immune deficiencies/autoimmune disorders, history of stroke or cardiovascular disease, dementia, diabetes, liver disease, all other cancers, respiratory diseases, spleen disorders, heart disease, hypertension with end organ failure, diagnosis of mental disorders, substance use disorders, thalassemia, pregnancy, immunocompromising health conditions, other disabilities requiring direct support care in the community, or sickle cell disease.

  • Clinics continue to run at capacity, and additional clinic days have been added to meet current demands. More dates are being added to the online booking portal as more vaccines become available. The HNHU has requested additional trays of vaccine from the province in order to expedite community rollout.
  • Residents who have scheduled a COVID-19 vaccine appointment that they are no longer able to attend are asked to cancel their appointment online or notify the HNHU by phone (519-427-5903).
  • Residents are asked to NOT book multiple appointments for the same person. If you have made it to the confirmation screen in the online booking tool, regardless of whether you received an email, please consider your appointment confirmed. You may need to check your Junk Folder to find the confirmation email.
  • Please only book or add your name to the waitlists if you meet the appropriate eligibility criteria. The clinic staff will turn away ineligible individuals and call eligible candidates from the waitlist.
  • Essential workers (as defined by the Province) will not be eligible until all individuals who are over the age of 60 and all individuals who are in the at-risk group have been vaccinated. Essential workers should expect to be eligible around June 1.
  • Residents who wish to receive vaccine eligibility information and updates via e-mail are encouraged to sign up at https://hnhu.org/news-events/.
