Dr. Rebecca Comley Returns as Acting MOH; Dr. David Williams Joins GEPH in Support Role

Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) is pleased to announce that Dr. Rebecca Comley has returned to the Acting Medical Officer of Health role, and in addition, Dr. David Williams has joined Grand Erie Public Health to provide additional temporary support for the role of medical officer of health. Together, Dr. Comley and Dr. Williams will ensure continuity in coverage during the ongoing recruitment for a permanent Medical Officer of Health.

Dr. Comley, who holds a Master of Public Health degree, joined the former Brant County Health Unit in 2021. She has also worked as an emergency physician at Brantford General Hospital for 10 years and acted as a consultant for the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Dr. Williams brings valuable public health leadership experience, having served as Ontario’s Chief and Associate Chief Medical Officer of Health, and as Medical Officer of Health for Thunder Bay. After retiring from the ministry, Dr. Williams has been supporting various health units across the province in a range of capacities.

Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) is one of Ontario’s public health units. GEPH formed in January 2025 when the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit and Brant County Health Unit merged.
