Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Haldimand and Norfolk counties for conditions beginning September 3, 2023. The criteria for a Heat Warning are daytime high temperatures reaching 31°C or greater and minimum overnight temperatures of 20°C or greater or humidex of 40 or greater, with hot and humid conditions lasting 2 consecutive days.

Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults, infants, and young children, those with certain medical conditions, people who work or exercise in the heat, the homeless and low-income earners. Warning signs of heat-related illness include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness, confusion, fainting, rapid breathing and heartbeat. If you or anyone else experience any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
