Head lice (pediculosis)
Head lice are tiny insects that live on the scalp, where they lay eggs. Head lice do not spread disease. It’s not a sign of uncleanliness or a parent/guardian’s fault if a child has head lice.
Head lice policies in schools, are determined by school boards (under the Education Act) and not the Health Unit.
- Head Lice Policy – Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB)
- Head Lice Administrative Procedure – Grand Erie District School Board (GEDSB)
