Health Unit confirms death due to COVID-19
The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit has confirmed the death of a resident due to COVID-19.
The resident had been living in the community prior to hospitalization.
In the interests of privacy, no further details about the individual can be made available at this time.
The Health Unit has also declared COVID-19 outbreaks at Cedarwood Village long-term care facility in Simcoe and Parkview Meadows Christian Retirement Village in Townsend.
One staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 at each facility.
The Health Unit is working with the facilities to institute a public health management plan.
