May 22 – It’s now easier than ever to take part in free prenatal classes with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit.

In addition to in-person sessions, expecting parents can now enjoy online classes as they prepare for their new arrival.

This is a web-based, mobile-friendly program that includes audio voiceover, closed captioning, videos, quizzes, and more to help you learn about healthy pregnancy, labour and birth, breastfeeding, and taking care of your newborn.

After registering, each user will have access to the classes for 365 days. Those interested can register online at https://hnhu.org/clinics-classes/prenatal-classes/.

Classes are designed to give parents the information and skills they need to improve pregnancy and birth outcomes, have a positive birthing experience and prepare for early parenting

“We’re very excited to be able to offer online prenatal classes,” said Sheryll Brimley, Public Health Nurse who teaches prenatal classes with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit. “This allows us to get our messaging out to even more parents and help them through a tremendous time in their lives.”

In-person classes are offered as a complement to the online sessions and are a great addition to the information that you will be learning. The classes are facilitated by a Public Health Nurse and will allow future parents to practice the skills learned in the eClasses, have all questions answered and to meet other expectant parents in the community.

Topics covered include comfort measures for labour and birth, life with a newborn, and coping skills for new parents.
