Homeless Enumeration in Haldimand and Norfolk Set to Start May 7th

SIMCOE, ON – May 2nd , 2018 Haldimand-Norfolk Social Services and Housing Department will be conducting homeless enumeration from May 7th to May 11th in Haldimand and Norfolk. Volunteers and staff will be out in the community conducting surveys with people they meet along the way.

Homeless enumeration is measuring the number of people experiencing homelessness at a point in time. Those experiencing homelessness will be surveyed by service agency staff and trained volunteers between May 7th and May 11th in communities throughout Haldimand and Norfolk.

“This data will help us better understand the nature and scope of homelessness in our community, so we can better prevent, reduce and end it,” said Tricia Givens, program manager for Housing Services.

Community members who have or are experiencing homelessness are encouraged to be on the lookout for enumerators and to give their input. Small gift bags are available for those who complete the survey. We thank Fastenal, Food Basics and Tim Hortons for generously donating to the gift bags.
