Lighthouse Community Strategy launched to address substance use and mental health concerns in our communities
The Lighthouse Community Strategy, a comprehensive approach to addressing substance use and mental illness, has officially launched with participating community partners from Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Haldimand County, and Norfolk County. This innovative strategy brings together a variety of resources, community members, and support systems to address these pressing issues.
About the Lighthouse Community Strategy
The Lighthouse Community Strategy aims to create a cohesive network of support that addresses the multifaceted nature of substance use and mental illness in our communities. The strategy focuses on community engagement, education, and the provision of essential services. As a foundation for a holistic approach, the strategy will include four pillars to drive each key area of focus:
- Prevention: Implementing programs to prevent or delay the onset of substance use and provide interventions for those at risk of substance use and mental illness.
- Treatment: Providing access to counseling, treatment programs, and recovery supports for individuals and families affected by substance use and mental illness.
- Harm Reduction: Increasing awareness and providing resources to minimize the negative consequences of substance use and mental illness.
- Community Safety: Creating a safer environment for all community members through programs, community advocacy, and policy advocacy.
By fostering collaboration and support across our communities, the Lighthouse Community Strategy aims to create safer, healthier environments for all residents.
