Prenatal Fair next week features exhibits, demonstrations
SIMCOE, ON, APRIL 14, 2010 – A variety of exhibits and demonstrations are lined up for the Prenatal Fair being held at McKinnon Park Secondary School in Caledonia on Wednesday, April 28.
“We’ve got products and services covering virtually every aspect of early child-rearing,” said Public Health Nurse Lynda Burville, “everything from clothing to photography to breastfeeding support.”
The fair, sponsored by the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, is free and is the first of two being held this year in the area. A second fair is slated for Oct. 21 in Simcoe.
“A wide variety of local exhibitors from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors will be on hand to provide information about products and services of interest to anyone with a baby in their future,” Burville explained. “The Caledonia and the Simcoe fairs are both open to residents of either county, so we encourage prospective parents and caregivers to attend whichever event is most timely and convenient.”
The Prenatal Fairs, which run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., feature demonstrations, displays and exhibits from local businesses who have merchandise geared to pregnancy, as well as agencies providing support and services to new parents.
A car seat demonstration and maternity fashion show is slated for the Caledonia event and the Health Unit is hosting a small café with free refreshments. A partial list of exhibitors includes Bottoms Up Cloth Diapers and Accessories, Caledonia Family Chiropractic, Cutting Edge Photography, Ever-Well Health, Haldimand County Leisure Services, Haldimand-Norfolk REACH, Haldimand Pregnancy Care Centre, Sears Canada and Synergy.
In addition, the Health Unit, itself, has assembled an array of information about pregnancy and parenting.
Businesses and agencies are donating door prizes, with the grand prize being a top-of-the-line car seat.
