Salespeople impersonating health officials, Health Unit warns

SIMCOE, ON, AUG. 26, 2009 – The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit is warning residents to beware of people misrepresenting themselves as Health Unit staff.

“We have reports that there is a water treatment company going door to door in the Port Rowan and surrounding area claiming to be from the Health Unit,” said Kris Lutzi, Senior Public Health Inspector. “These people are attempting to sell drinking water treatment equipment. Health Unit staff are not involved in any way in the sale of any water treatment equipment.”

All Public Health Inspectors carry Health Unit identification and, if they are not wearing it, will show it on request.

“If someone comes to your door and tries to sell you this water equipment and claims to be from the Health Unit, ask for identification,” Lutzi cautioned. “Get the name and phone number of the company and report it to the police and/or the Health Unit at 519-426-6170.
