Sodium levels in Port Dover water return to normal

PORT DOVER, JANUARY, 2014 – Norfolk County’s water quality monitoring program has done further testing on the water supply in Port Dover.

Samples taken on Wednesday January 22nd, 2014 show that sodium levels in the water have dropped to 14 mg/L, returning to a level that is in the normal range for this water supply. Samples taken earlier in January were above the 20mg/L threshold, prompting the Haldimand Norfok Health Unit to notify residents and area physicians of the elevated sodium, as this could present a concern for those individuals on sodium-restricted diets.

Residents serviced by municipal water can access annual water quality reports for each of Norfolk’s municipal water supplies on Norfolk County’s website at www.norfolkcounty.ca/living/roads-water-wastewater or by contacting the Public Works and Environmental Services Department at 519-582-2100.
