Upcoming sessions promote respect and trust in workplaces

SIMCOE, AUGUST 26. 2011 – The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit is inviting local workplaces to attend one of two informative networking sessions on Tuesday, September 20th on “Building Respect and Trust in the Workplace.”

Guest speaker Marla Warner, a certified stress management educator and health behaviour coach, will be delivering her presentation twice. A morning session will be held at the Coach House at Ruthven Park in Cayuga from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with breakfast included. An early afternoon session will take place in Simcoe at the Norfolk Golf and Country Club from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with lunch provided.

“Building respect and trust at work is very important to employee health and well-being, especially for workplaces going through organizational changes or workplaces looking to improve their organizational culture,” said Lesley Kennedy, workplace health promoter with the Health Unit. “It’s also a topic that is frequently identified by local workplaces as an area they are interested in, which is encouraging.”

The information offered in the session is intended mostly for human resources managers, health and safety representatives, wellness committee members, and occupational health and safety nurses from interested local workplaces.

“The Health Unit is committed to helping local companies move toward a healthier workplace,” added Kennedy. “Whether your workplace is new to workplace health or has an established program, this session will offer ideas and practical solutions you can use to benefit you and your employees.”

A $15 fee and pre-registration are required for any individuals looking to attend. Interested participants can register by contacting the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit at extension 3265 at either 519-426-6170 or 905-318-6623.
