Update: Outbreak of COVID-19 at Scotlynn Group farm
June 2, 2020, Simcoe, ON – The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit continues to work closely with the leadership team of Scotlynn Group to actively manage an outbreak of COVID-19 at residences of migrant agricultural workers.
Of the approximately 217 test results received so far, 164 individuals have tested positive, while 53 have tested negative.
Seven workers are in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care.
In an effort to hasten the recovery of the people currently residing in residences, approximately 100 individuals have been relocated to hotels. These individuals will self-isolate at the hotel. As such, they will remain in their rooms for the self-isolation period. During this period of self-isolation, these individuals will not be in contact with hotel staff.
The Health Unit staff is working to contact individuals residing in the community who may have been in close contact with a person who tested positive for COIVD-19. Some of these individuals have been tested and are now in self-isolation.
Health Unit staff are in the beginning stages of their epidemiological assessment of the outbreak.
