Needles Found in the Community Report Form
This information is being collected for surveillance and harm reduction planning purposes. Needles that are reported via this website will not be picked up by Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) staff. If needles are found on public property, please contact Norfolk County Public Works and Environmental Services at (519) 426-5870 or Haldimand County Public Works Department at (905) 318-5932.
If needles are found after 4:30 pm on a weekday or on a weekend, contact the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to inform them of the incident and arrange pick up of the needle(s) at *677 from a cellular device or 1-888-340-1122. Do not dial 911.
If you require further assistance or advice with a needle found in the community, the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit can be reached at (519) 426-6170 or (905) 318-6623. A sharps disposal kit can be picked up from any of the HNHU offices to safely handle sharps found in the community, and can be disposed of at a pharmacy or a sharps disposal kiosk. Sharps disposal kiosks can be accessed at any time in the following locations:
