Status updates:

• The Health Unit and its partners have now administered over 110,000 doses of vaccine and vaccination rates continue to trend upwards. 55% of adults over the age of 18 are now fully vaccinated. 90% of adults over 80 are now fully vaccinated and approximately 40% of youth 12-17 years old have received at least their first dose of vaccine.
• In an effort to get more youth vaccinated before their return to school in September, dedicated clinics for youth and their families are being offered across Haldimand and Norfolk. Youth and their families may book online through hnhu.org/youthclinic. These clinics are open to youth aged 12-17 from Haldimand or Norfolk and family members who live in the same household.

  Upcoming youth clinics include:

  Monday, July 19 – 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Waterford District High School
  Wednesday, July 21 – 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dunnville Secondary School
  Monday, July 26 – 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Talbot Gardens Arena (Simcoe)

• Residents 18+ are reminded that mixing mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) is safe and provides effective protection against COVID-19. If no supply of Pfizer is available, residents are encouraged to get Moderna for their second dose if it means they can get fully immunized faster.
• To meet local demand, pop-up clinics continue to be scheduled at various locations across the community. Residents are encouraged to check the Health Unit website and social media accounts for announcements regarding these clinics.
• A Same-Day Standby List has been created to ensure no doses go to waste (due to cancellations, no-shows, etc). Residents who are unable to find an appointment – for either their first OR second dose – may sign up for the daily standby list.

First dose booking information:

• Residents may check the HNHU’s Pop-Up Clinic page and booking tool for available appointments. Pop-ups are being added regularly at various locations for first and second doses.
• Individuals may also book online using the provincial tool. Individuals who need assistance booking may contact the provincial call centre at 1-833-943-3900.
• Youth aged 12-17 and their family members in the same household may book appointments at a dedicated youth clinic administering Pfizer. To book at one of these dedicated clinics, visit org/youthclinic.
• 16 local pharmacies are now administering Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. Residents can look up participating pharmacies and booking options using the province’s lookup tool: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations.

Second dose booking information:

• Individuals 12+ are encouraged to book their second dose as soon as possible (28 days after their first dose). Individuals who wish to accelerate their second dose may do so using the HNHU pop-up clinic form or provincial booking tool.
• Youth and their family members within the same household may book second doses as a dedicated youth clinic.

• Individuals who are unable to access a vaccination clinic due to transportation or other barriers (e.g. not having a health card) are reminded that they may contact [email protected] to request assistance.
