All clinic locations and dates listed on the chart below are now accepting walk-in appointments for children ages 5-11 during clinic hours. Appointments for children can also be booked using the button below.

Appointments booked through this page are ONLY for children ages 5-11. If you are booking an appointment for anyone age 12 or older, please book them here instead.

Please note:

  • For 2022, children born in 2017 must be five years of age at time of vaccination (i.e. already had their fifth birthday).
  • If someone other than a parent/legal guardian will be bringing a child for their COVID-19 vaccine (e.g. grandparent, uncle, older sibling, etc.) a parent/legal guardian MUST complete this COVID-19 Vaccine Children/Youth (Age 5-17) Consent Form and send a signed copy with the child to the clinic. If you are unable to print a copy of the consent form please call 519-427-5903.

Health Canada has authorized the use of Comirnaty (the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine) in children 5 to 11 years of age. The Pfizer formulation (which is the only vaccine currently approved for this age group) is 10 MCG instead of 30 MCG, so it is a lower dose than the formulation for adults. The liquid that it is mixed in is also slightly different. Visit the Health Canada website to learn more.

NACI recommends that children receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before or after any other non-COVID-19 vaccine. This is a precaution to help to determine if a side effect that may arise is due to the COVID-19 vaccine or another vaccine. There may be circumstances when a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and another vaccine need to be given at the same time. A healthcare provider can help with this decision.

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit understands that some children may be anxious and have a fear of needles. Clinic staff understand and are trained to help you and your child have a comfortable experience. Children can bring items that may provide them comfort (iPad, music, stuffed animals, etc.).

Consent by a parent or guardian will be required for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 11. Children will NOT be vaccinated without a parent or legal guardian present. All clinic appointment times for children have been extended to provide children and parents more time to ask questions.
