Book a COVID-19 Vaccine for Children 5 to 11 years old

Due to high initial demand, there may be few, if any, appointments available for children when you proceed to the booking tool. Please continue to check back as additional clinic dates, times and locations will be added when possible.

A list of local pharmacies also offering the children’s COVID-19 can be found at the bottom of this page.

Appointments booked through this page are ONLY for children born in 2010-2016, as these clinics are only administering the children’s formulation of the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are booking an appointment for anyone born in 2009 or earlier, please book them here instead.

Health Canada has authorized the use of Comirnaty (the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine) in children 5 to 11 years of age. The Pfizer formulation (which is the only vaccine currently approved for this age group) is 10 MCG instead of 30 MCG, so it is a lower dose than the formulation for adults. The liquid that it is mixed in is also slightly different. Visit the Health Canada website to learn more.

NACI recommends that children receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before or after another vaccine. This is a precaution to help to determine if a side effect that may arise is due to the COVID-19 vaccine or another vaccine. There may be circumstances when a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and another vaccine need to be given at the same time. A healthcare provider can help with this decision.

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit understands that some children may be anxious and have a fear of needles. Clinic staff understand and are trained to help you and your child have a comfortable experience. Children can bring items that may provide them comfort (iPad, music, stuffed animals, etc.).

The Health Unit is working to make clinics as child-friendly as possible. Consent by a parent or guardian will be required for COVID-19 vaccination for children aged five to 11. Children will NOT be vaccinated without a parent or legal guardian present. All clinic appointment times for children have been extended to provide children and parents more time to ask questions.

Some clinics offer additional privacy options. Please refer to the chart below to learn more about the clinics available.
