HNHU hosting themed pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinics

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit (HNHU) is pleased to join health units across the province and the Ministry of Health in providing COVID-19 vaccination to five-11-year-olds in Ontario. As part of this effort, the HNHU is working on theme days to make clinics as fun and comfortable as possible for children attending for a first or second dose.

The schedule for themed clinics will include:

  • See Inside a Fire Hall: Port Rowan Fire Hall, February 12, 9:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
  • Super Hero Day: Culver St. Clinic, Simcoe, February 17, 9:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. (with a special guest)
  • Kick COVID, Sport Day: Langton Public School, February 18, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. (kids are encouraged to wear their jersey or sports attire)
  • Teddy Bear Vaccinations: Culver St. Clinic, Simcoe. February 24, 9:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m. (for children with needle-phobias or interested in medical professions)
  • Super Hero Day: St Patrick’s School, Caledonia, February 25, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. (with a special guest)

All clinics can be booked at www.HNHU.org/popup. More clinics may be added as clinic spaces fill up. An appointment is encouraged at each clinic but walk-ins for five-11-year-olds will be accommodated at each clinic.

Parents who wish to speak to a professional and discuss the COVID-19 vaccine for their child are encouraged to contact Sick Kids Vaccine Consult Line or call their doctor or pharmacist.

Supports for vaccinating children with complex or unique needs can be accessed by contacting the COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline at [email protected] or 519-427-5903.
