Two trails, one day: Norfolk’s Eighth Annual Trail Day

SIMCOE, SEPTEMBER 19, 2016 – There are lots of great activities going on across Norfolk County this coming weekend, including the eighth annual Trail Day in Norfolk.

Norfolk Pathways for People will be leading participants along two trails for this event. Starting at 2pm at the Argyle St parking lot beside the Norfolk Golf and Country Club, the group will head south on the Norfolk Sunrise Trail and then proceed to a portion of the Lynn Valley Trail. Both sections are paved and accessible for people using mobility devices.

“Once again we have chosen to highlight the rail trail system and its proximity to the downtown core,” said Gordon Mason, Chair of Norfolk Pathways for People. “Trains used to bring people into town. Now the trails can thanks to the efforts of local groups like the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise, the Lynn Valley Trail Association and Norfolk County,” said Mason. “We have an amazing network here and we love to promote it.”

Once again, downtown Simcoe business, Blossoms and Scoops, will donate a fruit bouquet for a draw prize.

Norfolk Pathways for People hosts two trail events each year to introduce the public to the extensive trail system that stretches throughout the county. The coalition’s mission is to promote pathways for walking and cycling in Norfolk County for health, recreation and active transportation.

Join us on Sunday, September 25th at 2pm and celebrate Trail Day in Norfolk County.
